The Veterans Resource Center’s new student orientation on Wednesday was postponed to March 22, due to power outages in Campus Center.
On March 1, Campus Center lost power and flooded. The Veterans Resource Center had to re-plan its student orientation for the spring semester due to the relocation of the Basic Needs Center's Monarch Market event from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. The veteran's orientation was originally scheduled to take place today from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. in the Student Services center.
Monarch veterans and military-affiliated students who are enrolled in classes from winter and spring were required to attend the orientation. The event was planned to provide veteran students with Veterans Resource Center benefits, free food and supplies.
“As well as sponsoring events that will help bring awareness and visibility,” said Krixa Lim, the head coordinator and counselor of the Veterans Resource Center. “Visibility of veterans and their needs as they pursue higher education.”
The event will cover information about the Veterans Resource Center such as staffing, how to schedule a counseling appointment, VA benefit information and how to submit a certification for academic planning and veterans resources, as well as on-campus resources.
The Veterans Resource Center provides a Veterans Counselor, a school certifying official and a Veterans Lounge with computers and a printer.
