A large part of the Monarchs successful season and making the playoffs for the first time since the 2017-18 season is due to sophomore guard Jordyn Jiron. The star guard was awarded the conference Co-MVP for the season and nominated to the second team all-state. With there being 89 women’s basketball teams this year in California, Jiron is top 12 in Southern California and top 24 in the state.
Jiron took a huge step from her freshman year. As a first-year player she averaged 12.9 points per game, 5.9 rebounds, 3.3 assists, while shooting 29 percent from the three-point line. As a sophomore, Jiron averages 15 points per game, 6.6 rebounds, 6 assist, and is shooting 31 percent from downtown.
Jiron rarely takes time off games when she is healthy, averaging 35.6 minutes per game with 25 games played and is ranked top 10 in the conference and 11th overall. Jordyn’s success this season, along with her teammates, has been the big focal point asd this group of girls is heading to the SoCal Regional Playoffs.
